Since
1978, the "DGSS Institute" has been providing full-time,
seven-days-a-week professional counseling not exclusively, but largely
for gay, lesbian, and bisexual people. Its full German name is
"Institut für Lebens- und Sexualberatung der Deutschen
Gesellschaft für Sozialwissenschaftliche Sexualforschung (DGSS)",
which may explain why its shortened form "DGSS-Institut" became quickly
popular in Germany. In plain English, we are the gay counseling
institute attached to the renowned "German Society for Social
Scientific Sexuality Research" (short:  DGSS).
Hence we can effectively base our counseling on sound sexological,
psychological, sociological, and, if and when required, medical,
knowledge: our counselors are openly gay professionals from those
fields. Our work has been described in a number of books and other
technical publications, including doctoral theses. Since 1983, AIDS-
and HIV-counseling, including testing, is also being provided. By now,
more than 33,000 clients have received counseling.Founder and director is Rolf Gindorf.
